2012 Run for Freedom 5K and Poker Walk

New This Year a 10K option and professional timing chips!!
The Run for Freedom 10K, 5K and Poker Walk, always held on the first Saturday in October, draws participants from surrounding areas for a morning of fun, competition and excitement. The run and walk both begin and end at the Home, and children and families are invited to participate in the Poker Walk. Volunteers help the Home’s Veterans participate in the walk by pushing wheelchairs. Prizes are awarded for runners in twelve different age categories, as well as for winning hands in the Poker Walk. The event includes door prizes, raffles and refreshments. In 2011, the event raised $8,735 to support activities, entertainment and special projects for the Home’s 200 Veterans.
