Clary's Restaurant

In 1989, two brothers, Tom and James Clary had a dream to open their own restaurant in their hometown of Springfield, Missouri. The brothers had long worked in food service and felt that they could bring a type of dining to Springfield that had previously been unknown. After securing a location on the Southeast side of town, they opened Clary's American Grill on February 3rd, 1989. The rest is Springfield restaurant history. Although Tom stayed with the company only 5 years (he now does restaurant consulting in St. Louis) his input and attention to detail in the dining room allowed James to pursue his passion for cooking.
James continued to operate Clary's and opened a second restaurant, The Gallery Bistro, in 1997. James sold the original restaurant on East Sunshine in August 2006 after 17 years of successful operation. The new owners did not do as well and closed after 10 months in business.
