FAMILY SUMMER ACTIVITIES

Springfield, Missouri—(May 21, 2009) With families struggling through the economic downturn, one retailer has decided to do something to help families still enjoy doing fun things together as a family at a very affordable price – absolutely free!

The Bass Pro Shops Family Summer Camp features free activities and workshops where families can spend time together learning the skills they need to enjoy great outdoor adventures that will last a lifetime.

The Family Summer Camp event begins Saturday, May 30th and continues through Sunday, July 5th at Bass Pro Shops located at 1935 S. Campbell in Springfield. Saturdays and Sundays, beginning at noon and while supplies last, kids will get to enjoy free craft activities like decorating a fishing bobber, custom leather crafting, making braided key chains, designing their own birdhouse, creating plaster animal tracks and painting a souvenir wooden lure for Dad.

Free Family Summer Camp Workshops will occur 3pm-7pm Tuesdays and Thursdays and noon to 6pm Saturdays and Sundays May 30 - July 5. The whole family will enjoy learning the basics of hiking, camping and fishing. Other workshops include bird watching, archery, animal identification, plants & insects, and even how to make campfire s’mores. Kids will earn a collectable pin for every workshop completed (while supplies last).

Store activities will vary (visit www.basspro.com/camp and click on individual store site for times) but could include a laser shooting gallery, casting pond, soft strike foam bow range and BB gun range. You can even have a souvenir photo made! Also, at the Springfield Bass Pro Shops you can take a kayak for a ‘test drive’ in their Kayak Pool June 20th and 21st. Plus, see the #3 Dale Earnhardt Bass Pro Shops race car and the #1 Martin Truex NASCAR Sprint Cup race car. Again, absolutely free!
