Ohio State claimed its third-consecutive Big Ten crown and made its fifth straight appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2006-07. The Buckeyes finished 28-4 overall and boasted a 15-1 conference mark. Ohio State was led by a trio of seniors who completed their careers with a Buckeye best 108 wins in four seasons. Senior Jessica Davenport was named the Big Ten’s first three-time recipient of its player of the year award and she also became Ohio State’s initial three-time All-American honoree.

The only player in Big Ten history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 300 blocked shots in a career, Davenport posted a total of 384 blocks and ended her Buckeye run as the Big Ten’s all-time leader. Davenport finished with 2,303 career points, which rates fifth all-time in Big Ten history and second behind Smith (1993-96), who is Ohio State’s all-time points leader with 2,578. Davenport tied Courtney Coleman (2000-03) for the top Ohio State career field goal percentage at .604 (875/1448) and is the all-time leader at Ohio State with 875 made FG. Davenport’s career rebound total of 1,093 rates second in OSU history.

The Buckeyes won 24 of their first 25 games, the best start in team annals en route to winning their Big Ten all-time best 10th league title. Senior Brandie Hoskins was named second-team All-Big Ten, along with sophomore Star Allen. Junior Marscilla Packer was a third-team honoree.

Head coach Jim Foster was awarded league coach of the year honors for the third straight year, also a league first. The win Feb. 15 over Wisconsin was Ohio State’s 27th in a row at home (25th consecutive at VCA) to set the program record for consecutive home wins. Last season, Ohio State reeled off 12-consecutive victories at home after suffering a loss to No. 3/3 LSU Dec. 15, 2005. Ohio State has won 28 of its last 29 games at home and 26 of 27 at VCA.

Ohio State’s 13-0 start to the 2007 Big Ten season was the program’s best since the 1984-85 Buckeyes went 18-0 in league play. The 1986-87 Big Ten championship squad also won its first 13 league games.
