Doing and Understanding the Stock Selection Guide”
 
This program year the Kansas City Chapter of BetterInvesting will be using BetterInvesting software to teach the Stock Selection Guide (SSG). Emphasis will be on understanding the SSG, how to identify growth stocks, where and how to exercise judgment to determine the correct price to pay for a stock if purchasing, using suggested research sites found on the internet, and importing the data using S&P Stock Data Services.
 
The Stock Selection Guide II (SSG) Class is a continuation of SSGI. SSG II completes the back of the Guide. Management is examined more thoroughly and it is on the back that we determine a P/E and price arrange for an acceptable buying opportunity, calculate Relative Value, determine the amount of risk, if bought, estimate the average yield, and the compound total return.
 
All of the SSG Classes are progressive – each assuming you have an understanding of the information in the previous class. SSG I & II can also be used as a refresher course if you need a brush up on your understanding of the SSG. Please bring pens or pencils and calculators to each class.
 
The Stock Selection Handbook will be available for purchase at all classes for $15, or you can purchase it online at the BetterInvesting Store before attending classes. Each class cost $25 and you will receive a printed PowerPoint handout of each presentation.
 
For those who would still like to complete the SSG manually, the SSG III class will be offered later. SSG II is designed for persons wanting to learn how to complete the SSG by hand vs. using the software.
