Joe D's Brookside Wine Bar

Joe DiGiovanni is a Kansas City native who grew up around wine. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, Joe returned home to work with the family business, Happy Hollow Liquors, the retail package stores that had been the domain of the DiGiovanni's since 1940. Under the tutelage of his father, Sam, Joe acquired most of his wine knowledge over a 15 year period. When the business sold, Joe took a chance to fulfill a dream -- to own his own wine bar and restaurant. In November 1986, Joe D's Wine Bar-Cafe and Patio restaurant opened in Brookside. The rest is history, and a darn good one too! If you want to know more, stop by and visit with Joe. His employees won't let him cook, make drinks or wait tables -- he's a better talker. You can find Joe in the restaurants most nights because he loves to talk to his customers (alias: friends) about the business.
